Gino and Gerald are a fantastic sibling pair, just over 2 years old, looking for a very special home with a true rabbit-loving hero.
Like so many rabbits, they have some challenges with their ever-growing teeth, and need extra assistance to keep these in check. They require a high-fibre diet with lots of high-quality Timothy and other thick hay, branches to chew on, such as apple and willow, dried dandelion roots, and suitable chew toys and enrichment such as willow balls and tunnels. They love their greens, but mustn't have too much – the majority of their diet needs to be good quality hay and woody twigs. They have both had dental work to burr down their teeth and they would benefit from six monthly check-ups for these.
Gino also has entropion (turned in eye lids) which need daily drops, and Gerald needs his eyes gently wiped to keep his tear ducts clean.
They were abandoned at just over a year old, and found huddling together as strays, and are desperate for a loving home with a real rabbit lover who can accommodate their needs and give them the love and care they deserve. They will reward you with lots of love and entertainment, and the knowledge that you have given a truly deserving pair a second chance.
Gerald usually takes the lead in their exploring activities. He is friendly and affectionate with enough confidence to let you know what he wants. Gino likes to follow, and is an affectionate boy who accepts all the handling that he needs in a calm, relaxed way. Both love their food so a forage hunt through the hay is always a pleasure for them and their next favourite activity is to snooze together. They have a close bond which makes them a delight to watch.
They need experienced rabbit owners who understand the dental challenges that rabbits can have, and know what early signs to look for that might indicate issues that need to be checked.
They are looking for an outdoor home, with plenty of space and lots of enrichment. They need 24-hour access to a predator-proof run that is 3m x 2m x 1m+ high. They require a good amount of shelter as they don’t like getting their feet wet, so a hutch 1.8m x 0.6m, double storey, would be a minimum or even a converted shed with run attached. Gerald and Gino thrive on human attention and you would be well rewarded by the company that these loving boys can give.
