When Milo came to us in June 2025, he had multiple bite wounds through fighting with his brother, a very matted coat, and was unhappy and rather bad tempered.
We got him vaccinated and neutered, treated his wounds, and clipped his coat. Then it was a matter patience and time before he settled down.
At first, when handled, he could be grumpy with his fosterer, but we always felt that there was an affectionate bunny in there somewhere! Learning to accept grooming became a daily routine. After a few months, he was looking particularly handsome, and he started to enjoy the attention from his fosterer. By September 2025, he was on our website looking for his forever home, with a female bunny to be his companion.
He was overlooked many times, as caring for such a fabulous coat is a big commitment for prospective adopters. Few of our rabbits are adopted over winter, and so Milo waited many months for anyone to even come and meet him. During this time, he became very fond of his fosterer and this bond helped him blossom into a really sweet and affectionate rabbit.
We knew he was desperate to have a companion to snuggle up with, and in April his luck changed. Milo was visited by a lady who already had a long-haired female lionhead rabbit, and was looking for a partner for her. We were so pleased that Milo’s new adopter was not only experienced, she had a super spacious set up that would keep him comfortable all year round.
Milo lived alongside his new girlfriend for a few weeks and as they got on so well, they have now bonded and are living together.
We are delighted that Milo’s story has ended happily and the photos of him with his wifebun make all the hours of working with him worthwhile.
If you are looking to rehome a pair of rabbits, we have lots of bonded duos available at https://www.rspca-southbucks.org.uk/adopt-a-rabbit
Rabbits prefer company, so if you have a single rabbit that needs a companion, take a look at the RSPCA national site at https://www.rspca.org.uk/findapet/
